Job Title Digital Video Producer
Department Administration and Planning | WOSU Public Media
WOSU Public Media is searching for a digital video producer to develop digital-first video content and curate the organization’s digital video content. The role is focused on telling stories about Columbus and Central Ohio through digital video series.
The position will be primarily responsible for designing and producing video content for digital platforms. Production may include long and short-form videos, digital-only content and multiplatform projects in partnership with other WOSU content teams. The producer should be capable of producing the digital series independently, including writing, producing, shooting and editing content for the digital video content on their own. This position will also work in a highly collaborative environment within the WOSU digital media team, as well as across the organization, including with the WOSU TV content team to further the established brands of WOSU Public Media.
The producer will research and develop new digital-only video programming as for distribution YouTube and other online platforms. The producer needs to be skilled at connecting with audiences through community engagement to create content that piques audience interest and consumption. The producer will also develop relationships with independent producers and the Columbus and Central Ohio community to develop content that addresses key issues.
The producer should be a self-starter, while also collaborating with the WOSU digital staff to research audience trends on our social media platforms and development roll out strategies for content to gain new audiences.
The producer will also oversee the organization of WOSU’s YouTube channels and provide production assistance to WOSU TV’s production team when needed.
This position may require the producer to work some nights and weekends as community events may take place outside of business hours.
Minimum Required Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience. 2 years of relevant experience required.
Desired Qualifications - Experience planning and producing a digital video series.
- Two years of experience as a video, audio, and/or digital producer.
- Experience with drones, 360 VR cameras, gimbals, jibs, and EFP lights.
- On camera experience
- Experience managing a YouTube channel
- Strong writing, organizational, and creative production skills
- Videography experience
- Editing experience in Adobe Premiere or equivalent software editing programs
- Knowledge of production equipment, such as DSLR cameras
- 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred with a major in broadcast communication, digital content production, journalism, or equivalent combination of education and experience in digital or broadcasting platforms.
Additional Information The target hiring range for this job profile is $55,100 - $72,400. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
