Position objective:

The Peer Support Specialist (PSS) Director is an integral part of our program. It requires skills to provide guidance and the ability to adapt to meet the needs of PSS staff and peers in an inclusive way. Building, educating, and empowering a strong team of individuals who can deliver appropriate, person-first, mission-based services to some of our most vulnerable community members takes a high level of oversight and dedication.

Job description:

The PSS Director is responsible for management, supervision, and evaluation of peer support services and PSS staff. They are also responsible for developing a culture which reflects the mission of CHANCE, and the evolving peer delivered services model. The director does this in collaboration with Site Managers and staff.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Support Site Managers in hiring new PSS staff.
  • Develop and manage the training of new PSS staff.
  • Pursue ongoing education in regards to the delivery or PSS services and certification.
  • Provide ongoing training to PSS staff.
  • Monitor and maintain the ethical delivery of PSS services by staff. This includes compliance with PSS code of ethics.
  • Understand contract and grant requirements. Ensure that peer services are delivered in a compliant way to meet these requirements.
  • Maintain required credentials for your position and assist PSS staff with the requirements for their credentials. This includes any required reporting by federal, state, or local government agencies or outside credentialing agencies.
  • Develop and maintain the model of delivering peer services and ensure that staff provide services in accordance with that model. This includes PSS staff documentation, engagement, and professionalism. The model should establish clear goals for peers and track them.
  • Support Site Managers in resolving staff or peer conflicts and help them resolve these issues in a timely manner.
  • Provide group supervision for Peer Support Specialists in accordance with contractual or certification requirements.
  • Provide individual supervision to Site Managers in accordance with contractual or certification requirements.
  • Attend, and participate in leadership and all staff meetings.
  • Regularly meet with the ED for check-ins and training.
  • Work with the ED and Site Managers as needed to resolve issues, set goals, and establish vision for the agency.
  • Work with Development Manager to collect, organize, and analyze data for contract reports and grants as required.
  • Facilitate PSS Certification Training.
  • Provide direct peer services and engagement as needed.
  • Attend community meetings and events, as needed and grow and develop community partnerships. Represent CHANCE in a leadership capacity in the wider organization regardless of site, within the community, and with contractual partners. Follow all policies and personnel standards and requirements.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, 42 CFRp2, and CHANCE policy and procedures.
  • Maintain an acceptable driving record, driver's license, reliable vehicle, and auto insurance while employed at CHANCE.
  • Maintain personal recovery program and abstinence requirements for credentialing while modeling good and appropriate self-care to staff and individuals seeking services.
Requirements:
  • CADC1
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and professional appearance.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft suite).
  • Must be able to pass a state background check.
  • MHACBO/Peer Support Specialist certification.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask.
  • Must follow CHANCE's Code of Conduct, and policies and procedures.
  • Two years' experience in a PSS working with high-risk population, support and recovery services, treatment providers and the criminal justice system.
  • Exhibit dependability, flexibility, punctuality, and strong stress management skills.
  • Must have reliable transportation and maintain a valid driver's license for state of residency, personal auto liability coverage, and a driving record permitting coverage under the corporate liability policy.

  • Ability to maintain accurate records and necessary documentation.
