Job Title: Medical Writer II
Location: Abbott Park, IL – 100% Onsite – Local candidates only
Period: 11/18/2024 to 11/24/2025 – Potential for extension/direct hire
Hours/Week: 40 hours – Hours over 40 will be paid at Time and a Half
Rate: $35 – $40/hour
Contract Type: W-2 only
Scope of Services:
The Medical Writer II researches, writes, and edits business and marketing writing, procedures, proposals, scripts, speeches and technical/white papers in support of global citizenship/sustainability, global marketing, public affairs, business and corporate functions related to employee and external communications.
Role, Responsibilities, and Deliverables:
- Works within the confines of the Client brand voice guidelines and style, as well as understanding domestic and international regulatory requirements, writes, edits, and formats a wide variety of assigned communication materials.
- Collaborates with global citizenship and sustainability, marketing, public affairs, research and development, engineering, regulatory affairs, and corporate function personnel, among others, to outcomes are accurate, complete and on-target with overall strategy.
- Coordinates with creative direction, project management, graphic design, translation, and production personnel to meet project timelines. Advises with outside sources and vendors.
- Develops creative briefs by developing a concise outline of jobs that need to be completed, which contain project parameter, goals and inspirations to achieve to achieve business goals
- Recommends overall organization and layout, mode of presentation, publication methods, and related matters.
- Develops publication concepts for the best communication of subject matter.
- Reviews and proofreads all types of materials for accuracy, consistency and clarity
- Oversees multiple content projects simultaneously and ensures deadlines are met in a fast-paced environment
- Leads projects to improve departmental processes that require cooperation from other functional groups, and troubleshoots existing processes and tools.
- Remains current on developments in and knowledge of the company's products, markets, policies, and objectives, including regulatory requirements and restrictions.
- Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant technical discipline, Communications, Marketing, English or equivalent
- English or Journalism field of study; Qualifications: Exceptional writing and proofreading skills; Experience with AP Writing Style and AMA references; Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in a timely manner; Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail Deep understanding of corporate branding structure.
- Must possess comprehensive written and verbal communication, interpersonal, presentation, analytical, project management skills and the ability to prioritize and handle a large volume of projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. Must be highly organized and attentive to detail. Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred. Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment. Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment. Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.
- Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization. Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner. Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail. Ability to travel approximately 5%, including internationally.
- Progressively more responsible experience as a business or technical writer in a corporate sustainability, citizenship, or high technology (preferably biotechnology) environment.
