We're looking for a Manager, Web Publishing Systems who will play a key role in overseeing content and metadata configuration management for our electronic products and services, primarily focused on our electronic library and supporting databases. Position Overview:
As the Manager, Web Publishing Systems, you'll be the primary interface with our platform vendor, ensuring smooth communication, troubleshooting, and integration between various service providers. You'll also lead the design and implementation of UI/UX updates, manage new technologies, and ensure our policies and procedures for electronic content and media are up-to-date.
We offer a Flexible Workplace, with a mix of remote work and in-office days at our Reston, VA location. Candidates must reside in the Washington, DC metro area.
Key Responsibilities:
Act as the primary point of contact for platform upgrades and site revisions.
Serve as the Project Manager for any website redesign initiatives, ensuring we have a modern and feature-rich platform.
Manage budgeting and expenses related to our electronic content platform and supported services.
Act as the technical liaison between our IT team and platform vendors, ensuring successful data exchanges and integrations.
Support the Publications team in identifying trends, standards, and resources for online publishing and information services.
Contribute to improving content delivery across all divisions.
Assist other departments with electronic product development and communication projects.
Support customer service inquiries related to publication products and services.
Manage and enhance content and metadata configurations for the platform.
Produce and analyze platform reports and usage data.
Oversee the input and quality assurance of product data across multiple systems.
Identify and troubleshoot issues with the platform, recommending solutions to improve usability.
Support customer access privileges and authentication for electronic products.
Implement new metadata, discovery, and enhancement tools such as ORCID, CrossCheck, and taxonomy tools.
Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to develop and implement publication initiatives.
Provide data for reports and monitor project progress.
Offer excellent customer outreach and service across all levels.
Keep teams informed of project efforts and status.
Support the Director of Publications and assist with product development, analysis, and stakeholder relations.
Required Skills:
Excellent customer relations skills.
Advanced computer proficiency, including database software familiarity and XML coding; SQL experience is a plus.
Strong project management skills, including planning, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
Awareness of trends in electronic information media.
Outstanding communication and presentation skills, both oral and written.
Highly developed attention to detail and quality assurance skills.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite; advanced web application experience is a bonus.
Knowledge of UX/UI best practices.
Intermediate HTML and CSS skills.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
At least 3-5 years of experience supporting online content repositories, content management systems, or content-rich websites.
Experience with both print and electronic journal and book publishing is preferred.
Familiarity with Atypon's Experience Platform (aka Literatum) CMS is a plus.
