Job Summary: SUNY Brockport is currently accepting applications for a Learning Experience Designer (LED).The person in this role will be responsible for working with faculty in developing new, and revising existing, courses taken by students during their first year that conform to current pedagogical standards and expectations for online, hybrid, and face-to-face instruction. The LED will work with faculty in the university's Learning Management System (Brightspace) and associated add-in tools (e.g., Kaltura CaptureSpace, VoiceThread, Ally, SafeAssign, etc.). First-year experiences and curriculum will be the focus of the LED, with primary attention given to the seminars taken by all first-year students, followed by first-year, discipline-focused coursework. While the LED works mainly with faculty to set up first-year courses in Brightspace, this position will also manage the Brightspace experience for students. The LED could collaborate with key stakeholders that support the first-year seminar to develop appropriate tools for engagement activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in instructional design, curriculum development, instructional technology, education, or similar field from a regionally accredited college or university by the time of appointment.
  • Working knowledge of Brightspace (or related Learning Management System) and embedded tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply principles of adult learning, universal design processes, and best practices in working with first-year instructors and students to instructional design, development, and evaluation (IDD&E).
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse faculty, staff, and administrators.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in instructional design, curriculum development, instructional technology, education, or similar field from a regionally accredited college or university (or equivalent).
  • Experience providing IDD&E training/coaching in an education environment, especially with first-year curriculum and audiences.
  • Curriculum development.
  • Online teaching experience, preferably within the higher education environment.


Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am - 4pm

Salary and Benefits: The Minimum salary for this position is $60,562.
