Rate: $27/hour for off-site hybrid coaching, or approximately $41/hour equivalent value for live-in, on-site coaching position.

Other Perks:

  • Flexible hybrid work environment
  • WeWork membership
  • Gym and therapy included
  • If willing to relocate to Uptown: Fully furnished, $2,300/month apartment located on-site in our residential 3-flat building on a quiet street in Uptown
  • Monthly grocery and home goods stipends included

As community builders, dignity is central to how we approach everything. Our aim is to grow alongside one another—as an organization and as a community. We are looking for a multifaceted life coach who can inspire, guide, listen to, and learn from seven young men living at Collective Chicago. We need leaders who can care for themselves, have proximity to hardship, and possess a heart for creating lasting life change in Chicago.

Our coaches manage varying caseloads. At maximum capacity, coaches conduct up to 10 coaching meetings per week with residents (priority will be given to those more accessible in person), providing supportive accountability to help develop hard and soft skills related to employment, personal finance, mental health, and habit formation. Additional meetings include an average of three hours per week for team meetings and community-related events. This role requires a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach. Priority will be given to candidates who have graduated from a comprehensive coaching program accredited by the International Coaching Federation (ICF) or who have Cognitive-Behavioral certifications or graduate degrees in therapy.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with interviewing prospective residents
  • Build relationships founded on mutual vulnerability and trust
  • Assist residents with writing resumes, setting job search expectations, and tracking job application progress to acquire full-time employment
  • Communicate effectively via email and document meetings and progress notes in Salesforce
  • Address infractions to resident agreements, which may include dismissing a resident
  • Help organize and host a weekly house meal and bi-monthly events (cooking on rotation every three weeks, occasionally on evenings or weekends)

Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be willing to live on-site
  • Enrolled in therapy or willing to start (costs covered by Collective Chicago)
  • Ability to de-escalate conflict
  • Familiarity or proficiency with Salesforce, Google Drive Suite, and email
  • Personal experience with homelessness preferred
  • Degree in Social Work or Psychology preferred
  • Trauma-informed training preferred

Responsibilities for Live-In Life Coach Position:

  • This on-site position includes a well-designed, fully furnished $2,300/month apartment located in our residential 3-flat building on a quiet street in Uptown. A $240/month grocery stipend is also included.
  • Respond to occasional urgent resident matters (e.g., reloading transit passes or grocery cards, and addressing occasional personal needs)
  • Provide access to the kitchen for house dinners or breakfasts twice a week, as well as access to the co-living space during work hours. Dinner events may involve putting away clean dishes and light cleaning.
  • Must be clean and well-organized, especially given the need to host community meals and events.
  • The co-living room portion of your floor needs to be available during waking hours. Half of the 2,100 sq ft floor will remain private, except for a weekly dinner or occasional event.
  • Occasionally run errands for transit cards, groceries, or home goods for residents
  • Help maintain indoor communal spaces, technology, and outdoor spaces alongside residents and coaches
  • Manage house keys and entry codes for the door system
  • Bonus: Light maintenance skills to assist sporadically with our property manager

We look forward to meeting candidates who are passionate about community building and eager to make a meaningful impact disrupting homelessness with dignity in Chicago.
