Data Manager
Full-time, grant-funded position. Funding for this role is secured until December 31, 2027, with the possibility of renewal contingent on future funding availability. Candidates should be aware that employment beyond this period is not guaranteed.
General Description
Centering Healthcare Institute (“CHI”) is a non-profit organization that collaborates with healthcare providers across all sectors to transform healthcare. Our mission is to improve health, transform care, and disrupt inequitable systems through the Centering group model. We empower patients, strengthen patient-provider relationships, and build communities through three main components: health assessment, interactive learning, and community building.
We are dedicated to creating a future where the risk of preterm birth, the inequities faced by Black women in pregnancy-related outcomes, and the disparities in early childhood are significantly reduced—ensuring that every child has the potential to enjoy better life chances, social and economic opportunities, and overall well-being. With over two decades of experience as the leading resource for group care, we have developed and sustained the Centering model in nearly 500 practice sites and some of the largest health systems in the world.
CHI is seeking a remote Data Manager who will be responsible for leading and managing data and research projects across the organization. They will use their expertise to deliver data-driven insights that inform and drive the organization's strategic decisions and growth. They will also possess strong project management skills, strong data visualization capabilities, and intuitive attention to detail. The successful candidate will be guided by a natural sense of curiosity, possess the confidence and personal initiative to dig deeper and call attention to data trends when they arise, and be a true thought partner/problem solver across the organization. The Data Manager must be highly organized and enjoy working in a fast-paced, mission-driven organization. The ideal individual will have the ability to work with internal and external stakeholders and support the management of a range of Data measures within various funder contracts. The Data manager must have strong visual, presentation, written and verbal communication, and administrative and organizational skills. Key Responsibilities
Data & Research Management
Manage the data projects, initiatives, and activities within the Innovation, Impact and Learning Team
Collaborates with each department to proactively understand their data needs and deliver effective solutions.
Set up processes with the Innovation & Training team to ensure data is being used in a continuous cycle for learning and innovation.
Work with team peers to cross coordinate projects, compile inputs from all team members as required for a range of sources and output i.e Funder, Board, Program Presentations, Communications etc.
Support the management of contract related Data requirements across several departments
Develop a range of visuals and tools to translate data into messaging, trainings and other learning or presentation materials for staff use
Draft reports/presentations for internal and external stakeholders for key initiatives and graphical presentations that can be used to illustrate findings clearly
Work with Data Analyst on translating data into external messaging and content for a range of materials i.e Op-Eds, Literature Reviews, and White Papers that can support our Strategic Plan Priorities
Coordinate and manage all external research projects led by CHI, in partnership with CHI, and led by various partners. Act as a liaison between the researchers and CHI departments. Ensure compliance with research contracts.
Highlight data and research that drives specific messaging or targeted purposes and audiences.
Analyzes data trends to proactively identify potential opportunities to meet business needs.
Data Administration Management
Develops and implements data management strategies aligned with organizational objectives.
Lead process improvement initiatives across the organization around data infrastructure. Evaluate and set up data collection processes and standard operating procedures around data management and clean data processing
Develop data-related reporting and presentation templates and resource materials for various departments and identity reporting needs and stream-lined approaches for cross-collaboration throughout the organization and data-related requests
Analyzes and interprets data to extract valuable insights and present them clearly and concisely to stakeholders
Support data projects i.e return on investments, data assessments, data strategy, segmentation, market analysis etc.
Actively serve as a liaison for any outside research institution to coordinate any support possible from Centering (including letters of support, identifying sites willing to participate in research, etc).
Lead and develop a Research Query process that involves external stakeholder engagement, literature reviews, and data collection and reporting in Salesforce
Support RFP, Funder requests, and Development activity related to data proposals and presentations
Monitor data collection progress and help reduce collection barriers as they arise
Supervises the collection, storage, processing, and analysis of data, ensuring quality and integrity.
Uses data platforms, technology resources, and other data systems to implement data quality measures and ongoing processes to track quality across the data touch points. Support the evaluation and effectiveness of these systems for future considerations, upgrades, and changes.
Management & Leadership
Manage the Data Analytics staff member and partner with them on data collection and analytic efforts.
Identify analytic tools and resources to support the department to effectively execute tasks
Support the coordination of all data and research related tasks for the strategic planning
Ensure that an equity lens and CHI’s core values are infused into data and research practices
Identifies opportunities for improvement in processes and implements innovative solutions to increase efficiency and effectiveness
Manages the data working group to develop and document data schemas, data lineage, data processes, metadata dictionaries, and other data and research onboarding materials for staff knowledge transfer and retention.
Supports the set up of a cross-team Data Governance Group and attends the Contract meetings to discuss data Compliance and deliverables
Supports data usage processes, including maintenance, clearing, standardizing, usage, and archive policies

This position reports to the Vice President of Innovation, Impact & Learning
Qualification and Requirements
Experience:
Managing data projects for a nonprofit organization;
Data analytics background a plus;
Working with and understanding data architecture and data management systems;
Data contract compliance and management;
Hands-on experience in creating and maintaining data governance documentation, such as data dictionaries, data lineage, and data governance plans;
Developing reports and dashboards in Power BI, Tableau, and Salesforce;
Data collection systems and processes;
Using data to create reports and dashboards and a range of data-informed tools;
Demonstrated experience with and skilled in developing clear and compelling presentation materials;
Executing quantitative research and analysis is desirable;
Experience working with diverse populations
Skills:

Working Conditions:
This utilizes standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and audiovisual systems.
This role involves extensive collaboration with the internal CHI Programs, Policy, and Development team members.
While adhering to a standard full-time work schedule Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (in your time zone), working irregular hours may be necessary.
Travel to various locations may be expected for attending conferences, staff meetings and retreats, and any other relevant event.
This position must also navigate high-pressure situations.
Continuous professional development and staying informed about data analytics and maternal and child health data trends are required to ensure the organization operates within legal frameworks and is consistent with best practices in the field.
Vaccination Requirements
As a condition of employment, each candidate selected for employment will be required to have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccination prior to the selected candidate’s start date with the Company and be fully vaccinated (as that term may be defined by the CDC) within 30 days from that date, unless approved for an exemption. Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for the Data Manager role is $90,000-100,000, based on the qualifications and years of relevant experience the selected candidate brings.
