Community Curator Our world has changed dramatically in the last two years, and so has Valley Presbyterian Church (VPC). We are committed to continuing this tradition while expanding the vision and capacity of our congregation to connect more deeply with each other and to experience spiritual transformation and growth.
The Community Curator uses a collaborative approach to further Valley Presbyterian's mission to be a base camp that builds a more loving world. The Community Curator will lead efforts that facilitate and nurture a sense of community within the congregation and throw our doors open wide to support a broader range of partner organizations, families, children, and seekers by offering space, experiences, resources, and community connection points.
Supervision: The Community Curator will be supervised by the Lead Pastor.
Status: This position is 20 hours/week, requiring 30 Sundays in person/year at VPC.
The Community Curator's goals for FY25 are: - Oversee and support the implementation of a process for welcome and integration with the volunteer team
- Re-establish Footprints dinner groups (monthly gatherings of 8 people)
- Work with the Lead Pastor to establish a congregational spiritual journey during the Sabbatical year around the theme, "Restoration of Soil and Soul."
- Provide spiritual leadership during the Lead Pastor's sabbatical (late April to early July) and additional compensation during the sabbatical time.
- Support the 9:30 Hour small group (Sunday) in study topics and occasional leadership.
- Provide pastoral care that supports our congregation and community members' overall spiritual and emotional growth.
- Share stories and build connections through online storytelling on the website, blog, and monthly newsletter.
Responsibilities Leadership: - Serve on the Executive Team, including the Lead Pastor, Curator of Worship and Arts, Next-Gen Director, and Director of Operations (this includes bi-weekly meetings, quarterly planning, strategy, and vision input).
Outward Focus: - Collaborate with other church leaders to develop and curate learning, open-door, and service experiences for the community that further our values of cultivating community, developing soul space, building partnerships for justice and outreach, spiritual exploration and growth, and investing in children and families.
- Oversee the program's next steps of strategic growth, managing the timeline, budget, branding, systems, and personnel needs for events and initiatives.
- Develop corresponding content and explore ways to share and amplify that content online using high-quality video, audio, and graphic design.
Congregational Support: - Serve as worship host as needed on Sunday mornings.
- Provide leadership and support for the spiritual formation groups, including the 9:30 Hour volunteer team, seasonal offerings, and ongoing small groups.
- Serve as a connection point between the congregation and the community beyond. Cultivate relationships and invite people into opportunities that fit their gifts, interests, and expertise.
- Provide guidance and support to various ministries and groups within the congregation.
- Offer pastoral guidance and resources for life events such as weddings, baptisms, and dedications.
- Stay informed about current trends and best practices in pastoral care and spiritual development.
Experience: At least 3 years working in community development and/or spiritual formation in a congregational setting. Masters in theology or spirituality are not required but preferred.

Compensation: $35.00 - $50.00 per hour
