Job Description

The Internal Communications Specialist will be primarily responsible for developing, coordinating, and executing the company’s internal communication and employee engagement efforts. The specialist will work closely with the public relations department’s graphic artists, copywriters, multimedia specialists, and marketing strategists to develop messaging and campaigns for company employees.

The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of experience developing and implementing communications plans, copywriting, and content creation. Experience with intranet or website platforms, content management systems, social media administration, and graphics creation is desirable.

Internal Communications and Engagement:

The specialist will become a subject matter expert on all of the company’s internal messaging platforms, including (but not limited to) the company intranet, digital video boards, social media, email and texting platforms. The specialist will develop and implement messaging and content designed to meet the company’s employee communications and engagement objectives.

Intranet:

The specialist will be the department’s liaison with the company’s third-party intranet vendor to ensure our site is designed well and functioning properly. The specialist shall be proficient in analyzing site traffic and user experience to continuously improve design, layout, and content.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, execute, and evaluate internal communications calendars and strategies, ensuring that the company’s goals, initiatives and news are communicated regularly and effectively.
  • Write concise, accurate, and engaging articles to communicate news effectively.
  • Provide thought leadership for internal communications and engagement campaigns to inspire and engage employees.
  • Support and collaborate with company leaders in their communication efforts to keep their team members informed of news and events in engaging ways.
  • Train key users throughout the company on best practices for using the intranet.
  • Identify, through research and analysis, updates and improvements to our intranet.
  • Driv e new ideas to enhance the intranet user experience.
  • Create content for the company’s various internal channels, including digital signage, email newsletters, flyers, etc. through independent work and collaboration with others on the team.
  • Serv e as the primary liaison between our company and our intranet vendor (currently Interact) to develop project schedules , troubleshoot technical issues, and implement updates .
  • Participate in the company's orientation process to educate new employees on the intranet and communication methods.
  • Support the public relations department team members with other public relations, advertising, and marketing initiatives as directed.

Skills Required:

  • Clear and effective verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the desire to work in a fast-paced, team environment
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Knowledge of Google Sheets and Docs (or Microsoft equivalent)
  • Ability to provide effective training to internal user groups
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments to ensure deadlines are met
  • Bachelor's Degree and 2-5 years of experience in a communications role
