POSITION SUMMARY:

As a Backend Engineer, you will focus on designing and implementing robust backend systems that support groundbreaking interactive experiences. Ideal candidates will bring technical expertise, a passion for entertainment technology, and the ability to lead development efforts within a creative team environment.


RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • Design, implement, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable backend code to support the core functionality of immersive applications.
  • Implement complex data storage solutions, ensuring seamless data flow and integration across various systems and platforms.
  • Develop and optimize internal tools and applications that support studio operations and creative processes, enhancing efficiency and productivity.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including artists, designers, and frontend developers, to define and achieve technical requirements and creative goals.
  • Optimize data handling and streaming for real-time interactive environments.
  • Implement security best practices to protect user data and company IP.
  • Lead and mentor junior engineers, fostering an environment of innovation and growth.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and technological advancements, and integrate cutting-edge solutions to enhance user experience.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in backend development (with at least 2 years in a senior role, a plus).
  • Proficient in backend programming languages such as Python, Java, Node.js, or similar.
  • Experience with database management and data caching technologies (SQL, NoSQL, Redis, etc.).
  • Knowledge of cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and API design.
  • Experience developing high-traffic, scalable applications.
  • Familiarity with the unique challenges of real-time data transmission and management in real time environments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced studio environment.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field - a plus, but not required.


The typical base salary for this position ranges from $125,000-$150,000 annually. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires in CA, NY, and UT. Actual offers will be determined using local market data for the identified candidate's geographic area and may vary from the stated range.
