Job Description
As an Assistant General Manager (AGM), you will play a key role in ensuring that the gym provides an exceptional experience for all prospective members. You will support the General Manager (GM) in overseeing membership growth, sales targets, and day-to-day operations. The AGM will also work closely with the Membership Specialists (MS) team to foster a welcoming, high-energy atmosphere and ensure all members and guests feel valued and motivated to join the gym.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales and Membership Execution:
Support the GM in achieving gym membership goals, private coaching sales, and other revenue targets.
Drive the membership team to meet key performance metrics, including guest conversion, new member sales, and point-of-sale coaching attachments.
Engage guests and inspire them to purchase memberships by listening to their goals, presenting solutions that align with their needs, and building trust through transparent pricing and passion for fitness.
Take ownership of personal membership goals and lead by example to meet financial targets.
Weekend Leadership and Management:
Collaborate with the GM to create and implement weekend strategies for meeting revenue and retention goals.
Assist in managing MS schedules, ensuring that staffing is aligned with business needs and budget constraints.
Provide leadership during weekends by ensuring that all teams work toward a unified goal of providing a fantastic guest experience.
Report weekly and monthly results to the GM and leadership team, focusing on financial performance and operational improvements.
Guest and Team Member Experience:
Foster a fun, safe, and community-driven gym culture, ensuring high levels of member satisfaction and profitability.
Regularly walk through the gym to engage with members, gather feedback, and identify areas for team development and growth.
Address and resolve elevated member concerns on weekends, providing immediate coaching and feedback to prevent recurrence.
Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment, supporting the team in any necessary tasks to enhance the member experience.
Staffing and Development:
Assist in recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding new Membership Specialists to build a strong and motivated team.
Help train and mentor the MS team on generating new business, including lead generation, local events, and promotions.
Conduct regular team meetings to review performance, set goals, and offer support and guidance toward achieving both individual and team objectives.
Qualifications:
Skills and Experience:
Previous experience managing a team and working with sales or membership goals.
Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills with a focus on customer service.
Ability to analyze financial data, manage budgets, and drive revenue growth.
Experience with basic office software and other computer tools.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED required; a Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
1-2 years of management experience, preferably in a fitness or customer-oriented environment.
1-2 years of sales experience is highly desirable.
