Job Description

General Devices is a metal manufacturing company located on the far southeast side of Indianapolis. We are looking for an enthusiastic team member to assemble metal cabinets, stands, and more. Candidates with experience in the manufacturing industry with previous assembly experience will be considered before other candidates.
Hours: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM Monday through Friday. Overtime as needed.
$18 to $20 per hour starting rate.

What you will do:

  • Inspect parts for the operations performed at that workstation and at previous workstations to ensure that they meet defined quality standards at each phase of the production process.
  • Plan assembly procedure.
  • May set-up jobs, make appropriate adjustments and operate machine following standard instructions.
  • Test complete products or sub-assemblies to meet requirements.
  • Will use common measuring equipment, i.e., calipers, tape measures, etc.
  • May be required to perform rework procedures, including disassembly, repair and rebuild.
  • Requires the ability to read and interpret prints.
  • Will advise and direct other employees when necessary.
  • Use of hand/simple power tools and/or general machinery.
  • May utilize material handling equipment, i.e., forklift, hand jack, etc.
  • May be required to operate packaging equipment, i.e., bander, bagger, shrink wrap, etc.
  • Must practice Company and OSHA Safety Requirements for all areas.
  • May be asked to work in a variety of different departments and/or operate various machines depending upon need.
  • Physical requirements include the ability to walk and stand the entire shift, arm and hand mobility, lifting 50 - 75 lbs. intermittently
  • Other tasks as required

  • Must be able to read a tape measure within a 32nd of an inch. Helpful if you can read a caliper.
  • The desire to produce a high-quality finished product
  • Manufacturing experience
  • Assembly experience preferred
  • Must be reliable with a great attendance record
  • Ability to use both hand and power tools
