Job Description
We are excited to invite applications for the role of Actuary to join our dynamic Actuary & Business Analytics team. We are particularly interested in candidates who are either based in the Nashville, TN area or are open to relocating to this vibrant city. While we prefer candidates who can work on-site, we are open to considering fully remote arrangements for the right candidate, with the understanding that occasional travel to our Brentwood, TN office will be necessary.
General Function
In this role, you will apply actuarial expertise and innovative techniques to conduct analyses that support the pricing of new and existing accounts. You will also play a key role in overseeing the monitoring and reporting of overall rate adequacy.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
To excel in this position, you will need to perform the following essential duties:
- Provide accurate pricing indications for large accounts using actuarial principles.
- Support the development of new products and services with actuarial insights.
- Lead the development of rate level indications.
- Conduct actuarial and statistical analyses to identify trends in claims and premiums.
- Analyze profitability across different segments and recommend pricing adjustments based on rating variables.
- Explore the application of predictive analytics in pricing and risk modeling.
- Mentor and guide the work of junior analysts when needed.
- Collaborate with various internal teams, such as Underwriting, Accounting, and Claims, to meet their data and reporting needs.
- Consistently meet or exceed performance expectations in terms of productivity, quality, and goal achievement.
- Contribute to the company's success by identifying opportunities for process improvements and making valuable recommendations.
- Occasionally work remotely as business needs dictate.
- Take on special projects and other duties as assigned.

Education
A Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative field such as mathematics, statistics, economics, or actuarial science is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and specialized training.
Experience
We require 5-7 years of relevant experience, with experience in the insurance industry being essential.
Licenses and Professional Designations
Preference will be given to candidates who are Fellows of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) with 3-5 years of experience in professional liability insurance. Alternatively, Associates of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS) with 5-7 years of experience in professional liability insurance will also be considered.
Degree of Supervision
This position operates with a high degree of autonomy and requires no direct supervision.
